Review: Altered *Altered Series*

Book Review (14)

“Altered” by Jennifer Rush is book one of “The Altered” series. It follows a girl named Anna and four boys named Sam, Trev, Cas, and Nick. Anna’s father is a scientist for a secret government facility. He was told to alter the boys DNA to make them superhuman military weapons.
After rebelling and escaping, Anna must run for her life the boys to uncover the secrets of the government agency.
This book is one of at least six in the series. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. It starts off slow and builds up quickly with several (and I mean SEVERAL) twists that you never see coming.
The few things I didn’t like weren’t even a big deal. It bothered me how much the main character, Anna, talked about Sam. She was in love with him and that was what almost all of her inner dialogue was about. She was almost never thinking about anything else. Other than that, this was a very good book and I recommend it to anyone who reads YA and appreciates a good twisty action series.
