Finally, the 31st Goosebumps book. I enjoyed everyone I read (even the bad ones), they were all great experience and I can’t wait to pass them on to my children. Please let me know if you would like the other 31 Goosebumps reviews for next year of if you’d like something else.
I feel it’s fitting to end this marathon with “Night of the Living Dummy II”. The first one was a staple fear of mine for years.
“Night of the Living Dummy II” is about a girl named Amy who had a love for ventriloquism. Her dummy Dennis’ head kept falling off so her dad buys “Slappy” from a pawn shop (how he GOT there, to begin with, IDK). Her dad reads the note in his pocket, which, at this point, we understand to be the spell that brings him to life.
Amy practices with Slappy but Slappy gets Amy in trouble. He slaps her dad, destroys the house with paint and scares children at a birthday party. Amy and her sister try to stop Slappy by throwing him in the sewer (no surprise it doesn’t work), her brother smashes Slappy’s head and a worm falls out of his head. It’s soon discovered that her brother didn’t attack Slappy…Dennis did.
Another great book but I over thought the fear as a child. The ending was scary but that is it.
3.5 out of 5 stars
