Review: Zom-B

I had a love-hate relationship with this book. Zom-B was hard to like but, hard to hate.

It begins in a village in Ireland. The main character B, her gang of friends and her family see the clips of violent murders by zombies on the news, but everyone seems to think it is some kind of hoax. Her father thinks it’s a movie promo and nothing in their lives change.

B lives with her abusive and racist father and protects her mother from the abuse as well. B is hard to like at first but later on in the story she gets a little better. The dad is a terrible person who is easy to hate. B gets into trouble at school because of his influence.

However, zombies attack B’s school and all the students must flee to survive.

I thought the book was very good. I had a few complaints such as the author “telling” instead of “showing” and I had no clue the MC was a girl until the last few pages. It took a while to get to the action but I’m sure the rest of the books will have a lot more.

This book was short and the dad, I felt, was more of a problem than was worth it. I hated him so much more than his book allowed me to. The shortness of the book didn’t justify the amount I wanted him to suffer, but the book was short enough to make me want to read more.

I’d give this a 3 out of 5.

  1. I hated the dad character as well, but with the way that it is not mentioned that he died then I think in the later books he will come back and will be made to suffer in numerous ways. I do think the book is short as well but with there being 12 books in the series I think it is one of those books you read when you want a nice quick read with a decent story.

    1. I agree. I didn’t mind it being short too much and you’re right. Its a series that wouldn’t be intimidating to finish. And you’re right about him possibly coming back. I didn’t even think about the lack of detail meaning he might be alive since most of the book was written with little detail. Thank you for that 🙂
