How I Learned to Fly *31 Days of Goosebumps*

Book Review (20)

“How I learned to Fly” was a different direction for the Goosebump books. It wasn’t scary, but it had a deeper meaning than most of the others have. I’m wondering if this book was a message from RL Stine himself on his feelings to this matter.

Calling All Creeps Review *31 Days of Goosebumps*

I feel RL Stine was running out of ideas.

Middle school was the worst time. Many other people feel the same including Ricky Beamer. He’s a writer for the school paper and the editor Tasha bullies him. She kicks him off the paper and soon Ricky wants revenge. He puts an ad in the paper for “creeps” to call Tasha after midnight.

Tasha changes the name on the ad to Ricky’s name and he starts getting calls from “creeps” who are aliens who want him to convert the school into aliens. He says no, but after some more bullying, he decides it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Meh, this one is weird. What was he thinking with this ad? It wasn’t very clever and of course, Tasha saw it. He’s not a good person for changing the kids into creeps. Bullied or not, that’s just wrong.

Attack of the Jack-O’-Lantern Review *31 Days of Goosebumps*

Book Review (16)

Attack of the Jack O’ lantern was an interesting story with an ok ending.

It felt adult as well and actually kind of scary.

Drew Brockman has 2 friends Tabby and Lee who played a prank on her during a party. They got two masked men to come to the party and force everyone to the ground. Break-ins and fearing for your life is a great prank *two thumbs up*.

Drew wants revenge, so on Halloween, she tries to do her prank but fails, or so we thought. Two people with Jack O lanterns for heads join them and force them to trick or treat or they would burn. Literally.

This scares the crap out of Tabby and Lee (obviously).

Turns out Drew’s prank was a success. Her friend Shane and Shona were alien shapeshifters.

This one was actually pretty spoooky but the ending felt very deus ex machina.
